Workplace Stress Management for Wellness and Employee Engagement

Stress is one of most universal sources of workplace problems — yet many companies rarely understand how to clearly identify it or address it head-on. When stress is left unaddressed it festers and spreads, and ultimately begins to affect team and individual performance.

A few important statistics about stress from the American Psychological Association, Stress in America Report:
• Stress costs organizations $300 Billion in lost productivity and medical costs every year (American Psychology Association, 2015).
• 43 percent of adults report that stress has caused them to lie awake at night in the past month.
• 42 percent of adults report that their stress level has increased, and 36 percent say their stress level has stayed the same over the past five years.
• 61 percent of adults say that managing stress is extremely or very important, but only 35 percent say they are doing an excellent or very good job at it.
• 44 percent of adults say they are not doing enough or are not sure whether they are doing enough to manage their stress, but 19 percent say they never engage in stress management activities.

Everyone knows that stress restricts productivity and innovation and bring down morale.

Stress Quotient Profiling
We will work with you to determine the Stress Quotient™ of individuals in the organization, how to address workplace disengagement and increase employee engagement, performance and productivity.

Stress at work can be defined as the harmful physical and emotional responses that occur when the requirements of the job do not match the capabilities, resources, or needs of the worker. Stress at work can lead to poor health and reduced performance. A healthy work environment is one where the pressures on employees are relevant to their abilities and resources, to the amount of control they have over their work, and the support they receive.

In the stress online survey you respond to a series of questions that will identify the 7 most common types of stress and the root causes for individuals and/or the organization.

THE BENEFITS OF MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness has been steadily gaining popularity among business executives, managers and staff. Why are Google, Facebook and many other companies utilizing mindfulness training? The answer is, they have recognized the amazing benefits of mindfulness practices for their staff.

Mindfulness is a mental state of awareness that requires paying attention to the present moment with an open mind, curiosity and resilience. Mindfulness is a powerful skill that can be developed through practicing meditation, body scan, mindful breathing, mindful eating, mindful walking and other mindfulness practices.

During this series you will learn a number of these techniques to attain a calmer state of being both in mind and body.

Through our Mindfulness Practice Workshop Series, Mindfulness Webinars, Workplace Mindfulness and Mindful Leadership programs we work with individuals and organizations to bring you the many benefits of mindfulness practices. Participants attest to experiencing a greater sense of calm with an enhanced ability to manage their thoughts, anxiety and reactions to everyday stressors.

Some benefits of mindfulness include:

• Increased calm and relaxation
• Manage stress and anxiety
• Cope with challenge
• Strengthened relationships
• Become emotionally resilient
• Listen without judgement
• Less conflict with others
• Effective communication
• Greater empathy for others
• Reduced mental & emotional suffering

Workplace Yoga – Stress Management Yoga Programs

Yoga in the workplace is a fast-growing phenomenon, as business leaders and managers are seeing the many benefits of this holistic practice. Yoga enhances our physical and mental wellbeing as it reduces stress and boosts our energy and core strength. Healthy employees, in turn, reduce the burden on corporate health benefits programs.

Rainmaker Strategies Group Workplace Yoga classes offer an affordable way to expose employees to the numerous benefits of regular Yoga practice.

We know that long hours of working at a desk can cause muscular tension as well as aches in the neck, back and shoulders. Yoga requires stretching and deep breathing, which produces deep relaxation for the whole body. Those who practice Yoga say they have a greater feeling of calm and relaxation throughout their day. Calm employees are more focused, leading to increased productivity and improved concentration on work tasks.

Companies often start with just one session per week, and participants attest to experiencing benefits within just a few weeks. Employees develop a sense of physical and mental well-being with improved energy levels. Enhanced team spirit is also a by-product of the Yoga classes as staff develop greater comradery by spending time together as they learn.

Our yoga training offers a simple, safe, and practical means to quickly reduce tension and stress in the workplace.

Getting Started with Workplace Yoga

We can start with a pilot of a few sessions to gauge the level of interest and determine program design and timing. We will require a workshop space such as a boardroom or conference room that can be cleared of tables and chairs. Employees are required to bring their own yoga mats, or we can provide these for a fee. Finally, we conduct evaluations to get feedback from the participants and gain valuable information on how to best tailor the program and determine when is the best time to conduct sessions for the organization.

Ongoing Workplace Yoga programs can be configured to include weekly or bi-weekly classes lasting a few months, or you may choose a comprehensive Yoga and Mindfulness program. We also offer Chair Yoga, which is easy to practice in just about any setting.

Our instructors are typically certified in Hatha, Vinyasa and Restorative Yoga and are dedicated experts who will guide your staff toward a greater level of health and well-being.
